Elections

The ways elecions are conducted differ for the type of election, however all gather votes via a ballot filled in at a local administration centre (LDMD) that are found in every medium to large sized town and city (some larger cities may have more than one LDMD). People who live in villages or small towns are expected to travel to the nearest LDMD or they can request to have a mail-in ballot delivered to them which they send to the LDMD who put it with all the other ballots.

The different types of elections are listed below:

baa oda-jaras

(council rebirth)

This election happens every 20 years and involves the population voting for the 8 elected mebers of the baa-di-syana. The poeple who are able to run for these positions are any previous o'gona di-galo, o'jaar di-galo or o'dia di-o'akaado, all of whom will be relatively known by the public. Once the votes have been counted, the 8 candidates with the highest to eighth-highest amount of votes are elected into the baa di-syana.

bia-o'lalaana di-o'dia

(election of voices)

This is an election that happens every 10 years and consists of voting for the 30 elected members of the baa di-jamasaa. The people who are able to run for these positions are the mayors of every large town and city (places with populations over 1 million permanent residents). The people vote only for candidates from their omaani di bia-o'lalaana (electoral region), and the 30 candidates with the highest amounts of votes are elected into the baa di-jamasaa.

bia-o'lalaana di-o'gona

(election of members)

This is an election that happens every 10 years and consists of voting for the 36 elected members of the baa di-o'galo. Anyone is able to run for these positions, although usually the candidates are people of high social status from each region. A candidate can only run for a position in one of the four factions and it is commonplace that they will come from a sector related fo the faction they wish to be elected into. The elections are held within the electoral regions and the candidate for each faction with the highest amount of votes is elected as the represntative for that region.

bia-o'lalaana di-naal-'yloa

(election of non-confidence)

This is a special type of election that takes place purely within the baa-di-syana which takes place if the actions or behaviour of the jaar anas-a show that they are unfit to rule the nation, or that they may become a threat to the nation itself. If all members of the baa-di-syana vote against the jaar then the jaar isala takes their place as jaar anas-a.
